La la la. Waiting for my runs to finish running. bleh.
So I don't feel like writing anything new, so I'll put here the invite Stu
& I made up for my grandpa's birthday. Evidently, there's been some
edits, but I don't care:
-----
Sakes alive! Who's seventy-five?
Gotta blurt -- it's Wirt!
Through all his years it appears
He's been gathering (and producing) friends and family
For a life from all over, we're having a right old chivaree
So let me tell you a tale of our Homer,
'twill be no Odyssey, though he's been quite a roamer
We start his journey in St. Paul,
(with Mary Lou, and the rest of the crew)
With a brief sojourn to Milwaukee to get away from it all,
(land of beer and engineers)
Home to Minnesota again, to weather of ice, snow and wind, he
decided to move on to the marginally warmer Grand Ole Indy
Then escaping the midwest, to New Canaan, Conn.
But even then he kept moving on
To the land of sweet Southern Music and the Big Muddy --
Memphis, in the hilly land of Tennessee
Finally in the land of the Mouse, they settled their house
In the place of Sweetwater, on the 17th green
(and he's got the balls to show for it if you know what I mean)
So come one come all,
To Wirt's Birthday Ball
Be sharp, don't be late
to celebrate and commemorate
The eve of his three-quarters century
On Saturday, the 16th of January
at Wirt's colisseum, at 7 p.m., so come and see 'em!
