Remember that Summer a while back? I still do.
So the holiday mailing season (at least for catalogs and charities) has
been on for a couple weeks now. Now I'm starting to get the
sollicitations with mailing labels and greeting cards inside. I'm sorry,
but I didn't ask for the stuff, and I don't intend to give your
organization money because you sent that stuff to me. I'm not sure I want
to give to a charity that adds overhead by sending out these stupid
things.
Let's see. I'm sure I had some all-fire important announcement (well,
anybody near Courant tonight, please come to the grad student party. I
want to make sure there's some turnout). Um, it seems girl scout cookies
have come this year -- a Muslim troup (I'm guessing from their head
scarves) was selling them in our student center. I bought 4 boxes. I
might buy more today.
=That's= a fund-raising venture I can stand behind.
I'm getting irritated, our mail carrier has been bringing the mail =after=
5pm.
And I love how one can accumulate enough really cool stuff to
furnish/decorate one's apartment (and bookshelves) just by roaming the
streets of New York and seeing what people are throwing out. The gods of
serendipity rule this city.
