Today is Ma's birthday. Happy Birthday Ma.
Well, I'm in Reston, VA right now, wrapping up my escape from NYC. This
past week I've seen alot of movies, videos, and shows. Which are worth
commenting on? hmmmmm.
First off, I recommend seeing Wallace & Gromit in A Close Shave. A
Claymation "short" (its about a half hour) that has solid plot, great
technique, and some lovely visual juxtapositions. Two big toes up.
I saw Sling Blade last night. It reminds me of stories my Grandma tells
me of people she knows around Marion. It reminds me of a story my dad
used to tell me about a retarded man who was kept out back of his family's
house.... Anyway, there's not much for me to say except that it has a
happy ending. Just like Lone Star.
Crash. feh. So much sex I got bored. I mean, about the fifth sex scene
one gets the idea. Talk about a concept taken to its absurd conclusions.
I also feel cheated. Pretty much one gets to see the female body in all
its naked splendor, but not one penis to be seen. My guess: everyone in
this film is actually female. My other guess: see my writing Pondering on
Penises. If you like watching deviant sex films, I highly recommend this.
But I can't promise that you will be disturbed.
Ever get the feeling that Hollywood has been reaching for some kind of
depraved fin de siecle that doesn't quite exist? Perhaps that would
explain why so many people use drugs. Their lives are so boring, they
have to make it even more uninteresting. Ah well.
Let's see: I went to the Capital Ballroom Saturday night, where the
neo-romantics hang out to pose, dramatize, and enjoy a good steady beat.
From what Brad tells me, the goths love to self- and inter-analyze
everything. They must not be very good at it, for it seems to me that
they're still screwed up. I guess practice makes perfect.
Ever get the feeling that Mary Pat is feeling a mite bitchy today? Well,
give the person a milkbone, for it's true. I'm in New York now, and not
looking forward to the work ahead. feh.
Not even Winsleydale?
