3 Feb 2000
La di dah. I don't know what to say, I've just not been in a writing mood
of late - I've been a little busy. So let's see -- I've moved into a new
place (21 Jan 2000 is a date that will live in infamy... but not my own
memory - let's see, single-handedly moving almost =all= my stuff out of
storage, getting my first moving violation for operating a commercial
vehicle on a highway that doesn't allow such, getting hopelessly lost
because I was restricted to the Van Wyck Expressway and the LIE and my
directions included the verboten highways), I've learned the importance of
the circle of fifths (and fourths), I've got a working microwave, big
fridge, dishwasher and stove (though all need a little cleaning), I made
myself a new bathroom mat with cotton I really needed to use up, I've been
involved in an experiment in which I have to stare at a screen and decide
which way some squares are deformed (which is an illusion in and of
itself), I've got two new projects I'm working on, I've been roped in to
give a talk at Stuyvesant High School, I've discussed the point of the
shape of a chicken egg, and told someone why the union of a sequence of
closed intervals isn't necessarily closed. And I finally saw Star Wars I
(for $2 -- I want my two dollars!) And there's a film series starting
here soon called Screwball Jews. I think I'll go to Some Like It Hot.
You were wondering why I haven't typed?
I've got my new address, but I haven't figured out if the post office is
actually delivering anything there. I must find out who my supposed
carrier is.
