So here I've been sitting this morning, trying to think about all the 
contingencies of a possible transit worker strike (yes, it's illegal, but 
all that means is some union leaders will be jailed, and the union will be 
fined).  Rent a car...call up some car service (one can't get a taxi in 
Queens unless you're at an airport... at least where I am)....just fly out 
next Tuesday.... 
 
and I'm thinking about the classes who will not have exams because the 
professor or grad student does not live within a mile of NYU.... not my 
problem.... I might miss an exam of my own, but it's not one I'm giving... 
 
Oh well, I'll just sit in the apartment and play minesweeper. 
 
In other news, I really should learn how to read spanish.  As it is, I can 
read only about a half of the newpapers my fellow train-riders read.  How 
can I bear the commute if I can't read other people's papers?
