It's a beeuuu-tee-full day in New York, and here I am in my spacious
office avoiding working on Complex. Well, not for much longer though.
I took a 4 mile tour around Central Park with the park rangers yesterday.
One of the rangers leading the tour is right now running in the New York
Marathon that is winding its way all around New York City. There is more
to Central Park than one would imagine. I still haven't seen a huge chunk
of it, but I think that the northern end is far prettier than the
more-visited southern end.
Friday night was another grad student bash on the 13th floor of the math
building; did a little dancing (one of the 3), ate a little pizza, drank a
little whiskey, played a little chess. I actually won the game! Well, I
hardly got a few moves into the game without any help, and my opponent was
very generous in letting me take back a few moves. Of course, I did not
give him the same treatment. Anyways, thanks to Leif, Marcos, and Evan, I
couldn't have won without y'all.
Today I've done the 2nd reading for the noon mass, and I nearly succumbed
to the incense. _Two_ bricks today.
Laaaaaaaaaa.... oh yeah, a warning to snail mail recipients (and yall are
_so_ numerous, dontcha know); the homesickness bug bit me hard last night,
so the next letter coming your way is not going to be very happy. Sorry
about that.
