Ok, so I had been reading Brenda's stuff on weird searches that ended up
referring to her page, so I decided to check my own web stats (also
because I've been getting very strange email of late... for example, I
just got email from a guy about Zoom, Schwartz, Pfigliano (though it
seems the =proper= use is =Pro=figliano) because he found the page in
one of my various journal entries from 1999.
Anyway, here are the first few things I have discovered:
A recent ref from yahoo on the search "pictures of snakes giving birth"
-- okay, I, too, found this odd, but luckily the Yahoo search engine
shows the particular lines in which search terms show up. I'm pretty
low down on the list, but here's what yahoo gives:
... Japan - I keep getting shocked by pictures I don't expect. For
example ... a picture of a naked woman giving birth to a snake.
Pornography is kind of mixed ... http://www.marypat.org/japan/0727.txt
So though I'm approximately number 20 on the list, I believe that
sentence was enough to entice the "naive" web researcher, perhaps
looking for pictures for a science class project? The word
"Pornography" occurring may have drawn this person in, though I must say
"a picture of a naked woman giving birth to a snake" must leave them
panting for more. Btw, if you go to that page, you'll note a very few
sentences on the state of pornography in Japan, though I do offer the
helpful phrase "Sex shioo" (let's have sex) towards the bottom. Let's
see what else I can dig up:
Hmm, it seems alot of people are coming to my pages from links off of
livejournal. I keep getting hits for "peacocks" every month. I should
see how high I rank among "peacock"-related sites. I feel sorry for
those looking for nice pics of peacocks. Maybe I should do something
about that.
A search on "guliani and homeless" and "dentist no novocaine" (yes, I
know I tell that story alot) and a few markov model tutorial things. I
think I should do over my Markov Model stuff.
Variegated yarn... okay.. (I've got to say I =know= the webhosting
people don't capture all the searches, only searches from particular
sources. I can see that I've gotten hits coming from altavista and
google, but the search string isn't recorded. Hmph.)
Bad subject GRE score? I beg pardon?! I'm doubting that one. I can't
get mine to come up in the first 100, so I'm wondering if this is bogus.
Free groovy sewing patterns (mm, I don't sew. I wonder where I put
sew?) Yukata for kids (hmmm, I don't think they found what they wanted)
Jesus DNA (oh yeah, how odd)
And this is considering the web hosting site is missing almost all the
search strings that got people to the site (I know, because I've gotten
email from others doing searches on, as above, ZSP and it doesn't show
up in the search string list. They're so feeble.) Dammit, writing on
BBEdit is somewhat distracting -- it doesn't automatically wrap the
lines, and it matches up parentheses. I think I'll put an extraneous one
in here to piss it off )
Ha!
Oh shit, I've gotten 48 File Not Found responses this month so far. That
makes me sad. I must be missing some old links. I wonder where?
OOOh - one Forbidden! That must've been me, when I forgot to change the
permission on something.
Anyway, just having fun with my stats. I wish I could get more info on
the hits, though.
